StrangerBeing Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

StrangerBeing is a website where you meet one random stranger at a time, by video or by text. Matching two people, carrying their messages and keeping track of coins all need some information. This page says what that information is, what it is used for, and what you can ask us to do with it. Send any question to [email protected].

1. Who this policy covers

Anyone who opens strangerbeing.cam, in a browser tab or from a home-screen icon. A guest session starts on your first visit, because the site can’t pair you with anyone without one, so this policy applies from that first page load.

When this page says “we” or “StrangerBeing”, it means the team that runs strangerbeing.cam.

2. Information you choose to give

  • The guest profile created for you and anything you add to it: a display name, a photo, a short bio, your language.
  • Messages you write, the people you follow, and the people you block.
  • Reports you send about another user, and emails you send to support, with anything attached.
  • Purchase details when you buy coins or VIP. Card numbers are handled by the payment provider, not stored by us.

3. Information collected while you use the site

  • Technical details such as device type, browser, approximate location based on your IP address, and language settings.
  • Matching activity: which door you chose (video, voice or text), when a match started and ended, and whether Next was pressed.
  • Wallet activity: coin balance, free matches and rewards used, and gifts sent in live rooms.
  • Cookies and local storage that keep you signed in as the same guest and remember small preferences.

4. Calls and messages

Video and voice calls are carried by a real-time media service so the two people can see or hear each other. Text messages are stored so they can be delivered and shown again in your Messages list. Text messages can be passed through a translation service when the auto-translate option shows a translation under a line.

The other person in a chat can always take a screenshot or record their own screen. No website can stop that, so share only what you would be fine seeing again.

5. Why we use it

  • To pair you with someone and keep the call or chat running.
  • To show your follows, messages, wallet and the online list.
  • To look into reports and act on accounts that break the community guidelines or the Terms of Service.
  • To prevent fraud and payment abuse, and to keep the service working when something breaks.
  • To understand which parts of the site people use, in aggregate, so we can improve them.

6. Services that help run StrangerBeing

Hosting, real-time media, translation, analytics and payment providers process some data on our behalf, only as far as they need to do their job. Nobody buys your personal information from us, because we don’t sell it.

We may disclose information when the law requires it, or when it is needed to protect someone from serious harm.

7. How long we hold on to it

We keep information while your account is active and for as long afterwards as is needed for the purposes above, for example to handle a payment dispute or a report. Once that need has passed, we delete it or strip out anything that identifies you.

8. Your choices and requests

You can change or remove profile details yourself, and stop using the site at any point. To ask for a copy of your data, a correction or deletion, email [email protected] from the address linked to your account or include your user ID so we can find it.

9. Age

StrangerBeing is only for people aged 18 or over, or the age of majority where they live if that is higher. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we close it and delete the data we can.

10. Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes too, and bigger changes are pointed out on the site. Using StrangerBeing after that means you accept the updated policy.
