What’s the fastest way to reach StrangerBeing?

Email [email protected]. Include your user ID if you have one, and say what happened and when. That one address covers payments, reports, privacy requests, bugs and suggestions, so you never have to guess which inbox is the right one.

Before writing, the fixes below solve the three most common problems in a minute or two. If they don’t, your email will be quicker to answer if it mentions which ones you already tried.

Quick fixes

Why doesn’t the camera or microphone start?

Almost always because the browser hasn’t been given permission. The video door needs access to both the camera and the microphone, and if you tapped Block when the browser asked, it remembers that choice until you change it in settings. Here is where to change it on each device.

  • iPhone: open Settings, then Safari, then Camera and Microphone, and set them to Ask or Allow. Reload the page.
  • Android (Chrome): tap the icon left of the address, open Permissions, and allow Camera and Microphone for the site.
  • Computer: click the icon in the address bar, allow camera and microphone, and close other apps that might be using the camera, such as a video meeting.

Still nothing? Try the text door, which needs no permissions, while you sort the camera out.

What if a match doesn’t start?

Check your connection first; a weak signal is the usual cause. Then go back to the match screen and start again. If your free matches have been used, the video and voice buttons will show it, and the page on what’s free explains what happens next.

Text matches are a good test: if text works but video doesn’t, the problem is almost always camera permission or connection speed rather than your account.

Coins didn’t arrive

Close the wallet and open it again; sometimes the balance takes a moment to refresh after payment. If it still hasn’t changed, email us with the date and time of the purchase, the amount, the payment method and your user ID. A screenshot of the receipt helps. Leave out full card numbers; the last four digits are enough.

Reporting someone

Use Report on the person’s profile first; that sends us the account directly. If you want to add details, such as what was said, when, or a screenshot of a message, email them with the person’s display name. How reports are handled is described in the community guidelines.

What helps us answer quickly?

Your user ID, the device and browser you were using, the date and approximate time, and a sentence about what you expected and what happened instead. A screenshot of any error helps too, and so does saying whether it happened on the video door or the text door.

For privacy requests, write from the email linked to your account or include your user ID, so we can find the right data; the Privacy Policy explains what we keep. Many questions are already answered in the StrangerBeing FAQ.
