How does a first visit go?

Open strangerbeing.cam, choose Video or Text on the match screen, and press start. There is no form, no download and no card involved, and you arrive as a guest. The six questions below are the ones people ask in the minute before their first match.

Do I need to log in to use the video door?

No login and no registration. The video door works for guests: allow your camera and microphone when the browser asks, and the first stranger appears.

What do I need before my first chat?

A phone or computer with a current browser and a stable connection. For video, a working camera and microphone; for text, nothing else at all.

Can I pick a display name?

Whenever you like, and it doesn’t have to be your real name. A photo and a short bio are optional too; plenty of people chat for weeks with neither.

Who will I be matched with?

Someone picked at random from whoever is online, often in another country.

Can I choose a country or language for random matches?

Random matches don’t filter by country. To browse by language or country first, open the online list, filter it, and message the person you’d like to talk to.

Does StrangerBeing work in every browser?

Use an up-to-date version of a mainstream browser such as Chrome or Safari. If the camera won’t start, the browser’s site permissions are the first place to look.

More in the StrangerBeing guide, which follows every click in order.

How do the video and text doors differ?

The video door is a live call with one stranger who sees and hears you; the text door opens a private message thread with one stranger and needs no camera or microphone. Both are on the same match screen, and you can switch before every match. Details for each mode are below.

Does StrangerBeing have a text chat option?

It does. Text sits next to Video at the bottom of the match screen, and choosing it pairs you with one person to type to, without any camera or microphone.

What does the other person see on the video door?

Whatever your camera shows, plus your voice. Frame your face, put the light in front of you, and check the background before you start.

Can I turn my camera off during a video match?

If you’d rather not be seen at all, the text door is the dependable choice. The video door is built around both people being on camera.

Are text messages translated?

Text messages can be translated automatically, so a line written in another language can still be understood. It works on typed messages, which is where people most often get stuck.

Is there a voice mode too?

There is: an Audio mode on the match screen uses only your microphone. Most people stick with video or text, but it is there for camera-shy evenings.

Next, follows and messages

Next moves you on, Follow keeps someone within reach, and Messages is where you find them again. These three cover almost everything that happens after the first hello.

Does the other person know why I pressed Next?

No. Next ends the chat without a message or a rating. They are moved on to a new match, and they have the same button.

How do I leave a text chat?

Close the thread and start a new match from the match screen. Text matches don’t use Next because they open as a message conversation rather than a call.

What does following someone do?

It keeps their profile within reach so you can write to them later. It needs a signed-in account, and nothing outside StrangerBeing, like a phone number, is shared.

Can I call someone I followed?

Their profile has a video call button next to the message option. A call only starts if you press it yourself.

More in the conversation starters, for what to say when a follow turns into a second chat.

What stays private?

Your name, email and number stay private because StrangerBeing never asks for them to start. What the other person learns is what you type or what your camera shows. The answers below cover the rest, including blocking, reporting and recordings.

Is StrangerBeing safe to use and anonymous?

You can use it as a guest under any display name, and every profile has block and report. How anonymous you stay depends on what you choose to share.

Does anyone get my phone number or email?

No. Neither is needed to chat, and neither is shown to the people you meet. They see your display name and anything you add to your profile.

What happens when I block someone?

They can no longer reach you through messages, and they are filtered out of what you see. Blocking is done from their profile.

What should I report?

Harassment, nudity, requests for money, spam links, pressure to move to another app, and anything that breaks the community guidelines. Use Report on their profile.

Can someone save what I show on camera?

The other person could screenshot or film their own screen, and no website can prevent that. Keep identifying details out of shot.

Free matches, coins and VIP, briefly

Free to start, rewards along the way, coins after that, and VIP only if you want it. You never need a card to try the site.

Is StrangerBeing free?

It costs nothing to begin. New users get free matches, rewards appear while you chat and add more, and coins come in once those are used.

What happens when free matches run out?

From then on, calls run on coins. When the free part of a call ends, the call timer starts again from 00:01, and if your balance runs low, a top-up prompt appears.

What can I spend coins on?

Call time once the free part is used, and gifts in live rooms. Prices are shown in the wallet before you buy anything.

Do I need VIP?

No. VIP is an optional membership in the wallet, and its benefits are listed there. Every door, the online list and Messages work without it.

How does StrangerBeing compare with other sites?

StrangerBeing keeps the start simple: one click into video or text, one stranger at a time, and Next on video when it isn’t working. If you are coming from another random chat, these four answers explain what will feel familiar and what is different.

What is the best Omegle alternative?

The best one is whichever matches what you miss: a quick start, a text option, an easy way to move on, clear reporting. Judge sites by those, not by who calls itself best.

Does StrangerBeing have group rooms?

No. Every match is one-to-one. If you want a crowd, live rooms let you watch and comment, but conversations themselves are always between two people.

Can I go live on StrangerBeing?

No, you can watch live rooms, comment and send gifts, but not start a stream yourself.

Is there a StrangerBeing app in the stores?

It runs as a web app instead. Open it in your phone’s browser and add it to the home screen for an icon that opens it in one tap.

Your next stranger is one click away.

Pick the video door or the text door. Then say hello to whoever appears.
