Is StrangerBeing Free? What You Get Before Coins Come In

Short answer: free to start. New users get free matches, rewards add more while you chat, and coins come in after that. Here is what each part covers.

Is StrangerBeing free?

StrangerBeing is free to start. New users get free matches, rewards pop up now and then while you chat and add more, and once those are used, coins keep calls going. It isn’t free forever, and this page says exactly where the free part ends and what coins pay for.

That’s the honest version, and it’s the same on a phone and on a laptop. You don’t need a card to begin. If you never buy coins, you can still use your free matches and every reward you claim.

What new users get

A set of free matches, ready the first time you open the match screen. On the video and voice modes, the button shows how many you have left, so you never have to guess. The exact number can change over time, which is why we let the site show it instead of printing a figure here that might go out of date.

Use them however you like. Some people spend the first few on the video door to see what it feels like, others save them for evenings when they actually have time to talk.

Rewards that pop up while you chat

As you use StrangerBeing, rewards appear from time to time. Claim one and you get more free matches. There’s no secret to it and nothing to unlock: keep chatting, and when a reward shows up, take it.

We don’t list how often they come or exactly where they appear, because that changes. What doesn’t change is the principle: regular use earns you more free time before coins come into it.

Coins

What are coins for?

Coins pay for call time once your free matches and rewards are used, and for gifts you send in live rooms. When the free part of a call ends, the call timer starts again from 00:01, and from then on the call runs on coins.

If your balance runs low during a call, a top-up prompt appears inside the call. You can add coins there or let the call end. Coins are bought in the wallet, have no cash value, and can’t be transferred to another person or exchanged for money, as the Terms of Service explain.

What does VIP add?

VIP is an optional membership sold in the wallet, alongside the coin packs. What it includes is listed there at the moment you buy, so read that list before paying rather than relying on a summary that could be out of date.

VIP is optional; every door works without it. Matching, both doors, the online list, following and Messages all work without it. Think of it as something to consider after you’ve used the site for a while and know what you’d want more of.

Why isn’t it free forever?

Because live video between two strangers costs real money to carry, every minute, for every pair. Free matches and rewards are how we let you try it properly; coins are how the calls keep running after that. That cost doesn’t disappear when a chat goes badly, which is why free matches are limited.

A site that promises endless free video either cuts corners somewhere or makes its money in ways it doesn’t tell you about.

We’d rather be plain: free to start, a call timer that restarts when the free part ends, and prices shown in the wallet before you buy anything. That way you can pick a door and meet someone new tonight knowing what the next half hour will and won’t cost.

How to spend less

A few habits stretch your free time and your coins further. None of them involve skipping the conversations you came for; they just keep you from spending the free part on chats that were never going anywhere.

  • Warm up on the text door. It opens a message thread instead of a call, so it’s a calm way to get used to talking to strangers.
  • Press Next early when it isn’t working. A chat that goes nowhere in the first minute rarely recovers. Move on politely and save your time for someone who answers back.
  • Follow the people worth a second chat. You can find them again in Messages instead of hoping a random match brings them back.
  • Claim rewards when they appear. They’re the easiest free matches you’ll get.

If you’re unsure which mode to start with, the StrangerBeing guide walks through each one, click by click.

Refunds and receipts

Payments are made in the wallet, and the payment provider handles your card details. For a receipt, a missing top-up or any question about a charge, write to support with the date and the amount, and we’ll look it up.

Refund rights are set out in the Terms of Service; where the law where you live gives you a right to a refund, that right applies. The contact page lists what to include in your email so the answer comes quickly.

Keep the confirmation from the payment provider until the coins show up in your wallet. It has the reference number support will ask for, and it settles most questions about a top-up in one reply.
